From Dubai to Bahrain to Bristol
So I’ve just returned from a month long working holiday in Dubai & Bahrain and it was bloody brilliant
Fantastic weather great beach and lounging around the pool while answering your work phone can’t be beaten
The weather has been a constant 45 degrees plus which is to put politely fucking hot
Several times I walked out of my air conditioned room to get to the main door to feel like I’ve put my head in a oven and thought fuck that I’m going back inside
But it’s been great trip despite the heat , the sea was like a very warm bath absolutely gorgeous and I met some lovely people that I met on my last trip in June
Bahrain however was totally different to Dubai and when you go somewhere like the Middle East world and get a phone call from a client that you see in Bristol who is based there it kind of makes you laugh . you realise how small the world is today
I absolutely shit myself when I was going through passport control and was told to wait there by an official looking man
My heart sank as I was made to sit on a small stool while they took my passport away from me
“That’s It I thought Im going to get very intimate with a camel and a small jail, I will never ever eat a bacon sarnie again and no one knows I’m here I’m going to be sold for some camels or something ”
But five minutes later and 5BD later I was on,my way out collecting my luggage heart still beating overtime
Apparently just a standard procedure that they do if you haven’t been there before and don’t have a visa bloody wish I knew that it would have stopped me having a early heart attack
My hotel was a combination of a brothel , nightclub and not really sure what else but I felt right at home. But it did have Lots of hunky American sailors and expats that cross the causeway every weekend from Saudi to have some fun so I was in good hands
I made friends with some great American guys from New Orleans who were stuck there till they were collected to go and work in Saudi on the oil rigs and they took pity on me as I was starving dieting for a proper meal and they kindly took me to American Alley where I found Nando’s absolute bliss
But all good things have to end and I made my way back to Dubai for 4 more days before heading back to the uk
This time I didn’t miss the Duty Free either
